BIRTHDAYS AT BABA NYUMBANI
In a community of more than 100 children, birthday candles are never too far from arm’s reach. But outside of these individual celebrations, Baba Nyumbani parents and staff hold communal celebrations three times a year – to make sure no one has a shortage of dancing or birthday cake in their lives.
Baba Nyumbani’s first birthday party of 2021 recently took place, and the pre-party excitement was palpable. The children woke up excited in the morning and dressed their best for the celebration. Flowers, birthday caps, balloons and other decorative items abounded. Individual families made cakes for the children to share, and organized activities including singing, dancing, praise and worship, drama skits and comedy — even without these video clips, it’s clear this party was one full of energy!
Parents presented gifts to the children – anyone whose birthday fell between January and April of this year. Some wanted clothes, shoes or other items, while others chose to receive a chicken to add to their existing family poultry farm. Check out this photo gallery below to see much more of the fun!
